The visit was facilitated by the SKOLKOVO Institute for Emerging Markets Studies. The issues of cooperation in management personnel training with a focus on Asian markets were discussed at the meeting with Professor Wei Shyy, the Executive Vice President and Provost of HKUST. The parties noted that, despite the most favourable political conditions for cooperation between Russia and the countries of Asia, both the Russian companies and their Asian partners still have a shortage of qualified managers who understand the specifics of this kind of cooperation. Therefore, the partnership in education and personnel training is of paramount importance for the successful development of trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation between Russia and the countries of Asia. Following the discussion, the parties outlined concrete initiatives to enhance HKUST's cooperation with the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO and the SKOLKOVO Institute of Science and Technology (SkolTech). The meeting was also attended by Professor Joseph Hun-wei Lee, the Vice President of HKUST, Vasily Belov, the Senior Vice President of the Skolkovo Foundation, and Alexey Kalinin, the Director of the SKOLKOVO Institute for Emerging Markets Studies.
