Many Russian companies follow the global trend of introducing the post of Chief Digital Officer. However, there is substantial variation in understanding of the goals of CDOs, and the instruments and resources that are required to reach these goals.
In Autumn 2018 the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO together with the Ministry for Economic Development of Russia undertook a research project “Agenda of the Russian CDOs” with the aim to describe:
the possible domains of goals of CDOs;
requirements to their professional experience, knowledge and competencies;
possible organizational solutions;
approaches to measurement of success.
The research included the extensive review of international literature on the issue and a series of in-depth interviews with the CDOs of leading Russian state corporations. Additional interviews with CDOs of large international companies put the research insights into the global context.
